Welding Flexon eyeglass frames

Postby rickgold on Mon Mar 08, 2010 8:14 am

Hi all
First time posting on this forum but I have an issue with Flexon (I think that is the correct name) eyeglass frames. I searched the net for info, although scarce there was a little bit. The Flexon frames are supposed to be 55 % nickel and 45 % titanium. The bridge was broken and after welding, the frames snapped right where the weld ended and the original metal began. This obviously raises the heat treatment of the metal after welding issue. There was only one fix mentioned on the net and it was joining the bridge with a piece of stainless steel tubing and flooding it with solder. Not something I would put my name to. Any comments would be welcome. Thanks
